WESLEY LIN

Mathematician. Musician. Athlete. Connector.

Bringing people together and opening doors to opportunity.

Selected highlights

A few moments where curiosity became action, and individual pursuits became something larger.

01 — Community × Mathematics

Multiply Minds

Opening doors through mathematics

Built a six-month mathematics mentorship program reaching 100+ students across 18 Newark high schools, with 16 original lectures and a team of six tutors. Three participating students became the first AIME qualifiers in Newark district history.

02 — Mathematics

Mathematics

Pursuing ideas deeply

Selected for MIT PRIMES, with distinctions including a USAJMO Honorable Mention, two USAJMO qualifications, and a perfect AMC 10 score.

03 — RESEARCH × ACCESS

SPAN

Turning access into a pathway

Founded SPAN, a free research-access initiative that connects motivated high-school students with professors, Ph.D. students, postdoctoral researchers, and experienced scholars willing to mentor at no cost. SPAN also helps students navigate the often-invisible first steps of research: identifying research fit, finding potential mentors, writing effective outreach emails, and beginning an independent project.

04 — Music × Community

Music Outreach

Making music something to share

Founded Senza Sordino, a youth music-outreach initiative, and helps coordinate recurring performances across eight senior residences.

05 — Athletics × Teamwork

Volleyball

Competing, leading, belonging

Earned a varsity spot as the only freshman on the team, grew into a primary outside hitter, ranked 7th in kills among New Jersey's Class of 2027, and served as club captain for three straight years.

06 — Leadership × Access

LOGISTEM

Building communities around STEM

As President of LOGISTEM, led mathematics programming and access-focused initiatives: a 300+ participant Gauss Math Tournament, a 100+ student AMC program, instructional webinars, and sustained outreach for Newark students.

Different pursuits. One instinct: learn deeply, then make what I learn useful to others.

Keep exploring.

There is more behind each part of the story.
